Section 8/Rent Vouchers

Applications are currently being taken for Section 8.

The Section 8 HCV program is funded through the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).

The Salina Housing Authority is funded for 311 rental vouchers for income qualified applicants.  Section 8 participants rent from private landlords, and receive monthly rental assistance paid directly to the landlord.  The amount of rent a participant pays is based on 30% of their adjusted gross income and the remaining portion is paid directly to the landlord by the Salina Housing Authority.

Participants of this program get to choose where they live dependent on the landlord accepting S8 vouchers.   The Section 8
program is only open for enrollment certain times throughout the year based on funds and voucher
availability.

Properties must pass an inspection to ensure they meet the HUD standards at initial lease-up and
at least once annually. Tenants pay a portion of their rent to the landlord and the remaining portion is paid
directly to the landlord by the Salina Housing Authority.
